I came across this album in a dilapidated Leeds (UK) record shop for just a couple euros and have held onto it for dear life — BBC Radiophonic Workshop on vinyl doesn’t sell cheap. The standout track for me is easily Vespucci, a funky saunter with a very sampleable cool synth melody. The abstract cover from this 1973 release looks quite a bit like a CD exploding, perhaps another ahead-of-their-time move from these old-timers.

Ok, here is the ceremonial first post!

Today I visited the ever fabulous Million Year Picnic in Harvard Square and scored a copy of Mesmo Deliver by Rafael Grampá. I’ve been unable to find this book at lesser comic shops and it serves me right for not shopping at MYP every week. Wizard describes Mesmo Delivery thusly: “Like Peckinpah’s Convoy meets the Twilight Zone.” (Is that the same Convoy I’m thinking of?!) but don’t let that scare you off. Grampá’s art is great and reminds me a lot of Lee Misenheimer who doesn’t update his site nearly enough.
